Nib Selection
Nib Selection
A good way to try three different nib styles to see which suits you;
Blue Pumpkin;
A popular nib which is semi-flexible and creates nice thick downstrokes with ease whilst still being easy to control. Good for modern calligraphy styles
Zebra ‘G’ ;
My all time favourite nib. This Japanese made nib is smooth, firm but flexible, capable of producing fine lines and useful when producing quite small lettering. Easy to control for beginner with good ink flow, beautiful for addressing envelopes.
Brause Rose;
Embossed with a delicate rose, this nib is based on a vintage design and is simply beautiful.
A very flexible nib, it can take a little getting used to if you are accustomed to harder nibs such as the Zebra G as you don’t need to press as hard. For some people this is ideal though. It allows for a wonderful contrast between thick downstrokes and fine upstrokes. Works well when writing in a slightly larger format, and for copperplate styles.
